2021 OIW Assembly

To the End of the Trail of Tears

Oklahoma City.

October 7-11, 2021

In 2005 the OIW visited Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The trip was one of our first. Fort Sill is the only U.S. Army Fort that has two flag ceremonies each day - the old fort and the new one! The Old Post is one of the most historic shrines of the Indian Wars. The guard is an incredible repository of history. Now there is another great museum there -The US Army Artillery Museum. This spectacular museum was in the final planning stages when we were there in 2005. It will be a highlight of our 2021 Assembly.

Other sites we will visit:

  • Fort Reno

  • Fort Gibson - Old and New Post

  • Tahlequah - The end of the Trail of Tears and capital of the Cherokee Nation

  • The National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

Stay tuned for other sites and more details
