A letter from Mike:
The National Guard has informed us that their conference facility may be unavailable for our symposium. It may be needed as storage space for PPE and other medical supplies. Current Denver guidelines prohibit gatherings of more than 10 people – making the question moot at this point.
Our hotel has contacted us to explain that under these same guidelines, they will not be able to offer food service. We will not be able to congregate in the lobby or lounge areas. Were all this not enough, the bar will be closed! That was the final blow.
All of this could change, but that decision will not be made until the end of April. We have no way of knowing if these restrictions will be extended, relaxed, or removed.
In view of these uncertainties, I have decided to cancel the 2020 OIW Denver Symposium. I want each and every one of you to be safe and healthy. I want all of you able to attend the 2020 OIW 41st Annual Assembly “ To the End of the Trail of Tears”, October 8 – 11 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. By then we will all need a road trip. What could be better than the OIW conference? Be there!
